Natator

Natator is a genus of sea turtles in the family Cheloniidae containing a single living species, the flatback sea turtle, endemic to the sandy beaches and shallow coastal waters of the Australian continental shelf, with a range limited to northern Australia, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, the smallest range of any sea turtle. It has a smooth, flat-domed carapace with non-overlapping scutes and upturned edges, colored olive green or a mix of grey and green with a lighter underside, and a single pair of prefrontal scales on the head; its carapace is notably thinner than that of other sea turtles, causing it to crack under comparatively small pressures.
