Caprimulgiformes is the order of nightjars and their relatives, medium-sized nocturnal or crepuscular birds characterised by long wings, short legs and very short bills. The order core family, Caprimulgidae, gives the group its common name from the European nightjar; some New World members are called nighthawks.
