Dasyuromorphia is the marsupial order comprising most of the carnivorous marsupials of Australia and New Guinea. It contains four families: Myrmecobiidae, with its single living species the numbat; Thylacinidae, whose sole recent species the thylacine is extinct; Dasyuridae, with 73 living species including quolls, dunnarts and the Tasmanian devil; and the extinct fossil family Malleodectidae.
