Muscicapida

Muscicapida is a parvorder of passerine birds within the order Passeriformes, comprising 19 families grouped into several superfamilies: Bombycilloidea, the waxwings, silky flycatchers, and their allies; Muscicapoidea, which includes the Old World flycatchers, thrushes, starlings, and dippers; the goldcrests and kinglets of family Regulidae; and Certhioidea, covering nuthatches, treecreepers, wrens, and the wallcreeper. Familiar members include the European robin, the oxpeckers, and many mockingbird, warbler, and wren species. A 2019 phylogenetic study by Oliveros and colleagues proposed that the lineage dispersed from Australia into Eurasia in a Gondwanan migration pattern, distinguishing its biogeographic history from that of other passerine groups.
