Home›Flowering Plants›Other Flowering Plant OrdersGroupOther Flowering Plant OrdersThis group gathers Flowering Plants subcategory members whose own order is a real, taxonomically valid lineage but is represented by too few members within this particular subcategory to justify its own heading here. It spans some of the most evolutionarily distinctive plants in the subcategory: Amborella, the single living species of the order Amborellales and, by most molecular analyses, the sister lineage to every other living flowering plant; the water lilies of the order Nymphaeales and the sacred lotus of the related order Proteales, both genuinely unrelated to the true lilies despite the common English name; the aroids, duckweeds and other aquatic monocots of the order Alismatales, including the corpse flower and the titan arum; the magnoliid orders Laurales (the bay laurel) and Piperales (the birthworts); the grape family of the order Vitales; the boxwood family of the order Buxales; and a scatter of single-member asterid and rosid orders such as Aquifoliales, Cornales and Dipsacales. No member of this group was placed here by keyword guesswork alone; each has a checked, real family assignment that simply falls outside every other, larger group this subcategory needed.FactsBrowse BySourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsComparisonTaxonomic Rank OrderWell-attested5 1Reproductive ModeWell-attestedSeed-Bearing 2Browse ByAll Other Flowering Plant OrdersOther Flowering Plant Orders39 entriesOther Flowering Plant OrdersFilter Results39 entriesCommon GroupAllOther Flowering Plant Orders (39)TaxonomyAllAlismatales (1)Amborellales (1)Araceae (10)Celastrales (1)Cornales (1)Dioscoreales (1)Dipsacales (1)Liliales (1)Magnoliophyta (2)Magnoliopsida (4)Malvales (1)Nymphaeales (2)Plantae (5)Proteaceae (1)Saxifragales (3)Vitales (2)HabitatAllFreshwater (1)Freshwater Marsh (1)Grassland (1)Lake (4)Marine (1)Riparian Zone (2)River (6)Temperate Forest (5)Tropical Dry Forest (1)Tropical Rainforest (2)Wetlands (2)Conservation StatusAllEndangered (4)Least Concern (17)Near Threatened (1)Not Evaluated (14)EcosystemAllAmazon Rainforest (1)Caspian Sea (2)Fynbos (1)Great Lakes (1)Lake Victoria (1)Mediterranean Basin (1)Sumatran Lowland Rainforest (2)Wadden Sea (1)Everyday GroupAllOther Flowering Plant Orders (39)DietAllParasitic (1)Photosynthetic Autotroph (38)System (Realm)AllFreshwater (12)Marine (1)Terrestrial (20)Terrestrial and Freshwater (2)ThreatsAllPollution (1)Relationship to PeopleAllDomesticated (1)Eaten or Drunk by People (4)Farmed or Commercially Raised (5)Invasive or Introduced Species (7)Source of Dye (1)Used in Traditional Medicine (15)Living or ExtinctAllYes (25)Where It LivesAllAfghanistan (5)Africa (5)Albania (8)Algeria (11)Angola (5)Antigua and Barbuda (2)Argentina (5)Armenia (3)Asia (1)Australia (1)Australia (11)Austria (13)Bahamas (2)Bangladesh (13)Barbados (2)Beijing (1)Belarus (7)Belgium (15)Belize (3)Benin (4)Bolivia (2)Bosnia and Herzegovina (1)Botswana (2)Brazil (10)Brunei (2)Bulgaria (10)Burundi (3)Cambodia (7)Cameroon (3)Canada (3)Central African Republic (2)Chad (3)Chile (1)China (4)Colombia (9)Comoros (3)Costa Rica (5)Cote d'Ivoire (2)Croatia (5)Cuba (5)Cyprus (5)Czechia (3)Denmark (12)Dominican Republic (2)Ecuador (8)Egypt (4)El Salvador (4)Equatorial Guinea (1)Eritrea (2)Estonia (2)Eswatini (2)Ethiopia (4)Fiji (3)Finland (8)France (16)Fujian (2)Gabon (5)Gambia (2)Georgia (5)Germany (15)Ghana (2)Greece (10)Guangdong (1)Guatemala (3)Guinea (4)Guinea-Bissau (3)Guyana (2)Haiti (2)Honduras (5)Hungary (8)Iceland (3)India (14)Indonesia (2)Iran (9)Iraq (5)Ireland (8)Italy (13)Jamaica (2)Japan (9)Kazakhstan (6)Kenya (3)Laos (6)Lesotho (1)Liberia (3)Libya (4)Lithuania (1)Luxembourg (1)Madagascar (3)Malawi (1)Maldives (1)Mali (2)Manchuria (6)Mauritius (1)Mexico (1)Mongolia (3)Morocco (7)Myanmar (6)Nepal (4)Netherlands (6)New Zealand (2)Nicaragua (1)Nigeria (1)North America (17)Norway (10)Pakistan (8)Palestine (5)Papua New Guinea (1)Paraguay (1)Peru (1)Philippines (5)Poland (7)Portugal (8)Romania (11)Russia (1)Rwanda (1)Samoa (1)Senegal (1)Seychelles (2)Sierra Leone (1)Singapore (1)Slovakia (1)South Africa (2)South America (2)South Asia (5)Southeast Asia (1)Spain (11)Sri Lanka (5)Sweden (8)Switzerland (10)Taiwan (7)Tanzania (1)Thailand (7)Tibet (1)Tonga (1)Tunisia (4)Turkmenistan (4)Ukraine (10)United Kingdom (2)United States (4)Uruguay (2)Uzbekistan (6)Vanuatu (3)Vietnam (8)Western Australia (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 39Aeonium ciliatumFlowering Plants1 linkAlisma plantago-aquaticaFlowering Plants2 linksAmborellaFlowering Plants1 linkAmorphophallus KonjacFlowering Plants1 linkAmorphophallus PaeoniifoliusFlowering Plants1 linkAnubias afzeliiFlowering Plants1 linkAnubias barteriFlowering Plants1 linkAristolochia grandifloraFlowering Plants2 linksBat FlowerFlowering Plants1 linkButomus umbellatusFlowering Plants3 linksBuxus sempervirensFlowering Plants2 linksCorpse FlowerFlowering Plants3 linksDuckweedFlowering Plants2 linksElaeocarpus serratusFlowering Plants1 linkGiant Water LilyFlowering Plants3 linksGomortegaFlowering Plants1 linkIllicium anisatumFlowering Plants2 linksKaliphora madagascariensisFlowering Plants1 linkKing ProteaFlowering Plants2 linksKnautia arvensisFlowering Plants2 linksLaurus nobilisFlowering Plants2 linksLemna minorFlowering Plants2 linksNelumbo nuciferaFlowering Plants3 linksNuytsia floribundaFlowering Plants1 linkNymphaea candidaFlowering Plants3 linksRibes aureumFlowering Plants2 linksRibes sanguineumFlowering Plants1 linkSacred LotusFlowering Plants3 linksSambucus nigraFlowering Plants2 linksTitan ArumFlowering Plants3 linksVitis mustangensisFlowering Plants2 linksVitis viniferaFlowering Plants3 linksVoodoo LilyFlowering Plants1 linkWater HyacinthFlowering Plants2 linksWater LilyFlowering Plants1 linkWhite Water LilyFlowering Plants4 linksWolffia GlobosaFlowering Plants2 linksYerba mateFlowering Plants2 linksZostera marinaFlowering Plants3 linksSources1.
