Pipistrellus raceyi

Pipistrellus raceyi, also known as Racey's pipistrelle, is a species of bat from Madagascar in the genus Pipistrellus. Although unidentified Pipistrellus bats had been reported from Madagascar since the 1990s, this species was not formally named until 2006. It appears most closely related to the Asian species Pipistrellus endoi, Pipistrellus paterculus and Pipistrellus abramus, and its ancestors probably reached Madagascar from Asia. It has been recorded at four sites, two in the eastern lowlands and two in the western lowlands, roosting in open areas and buildings in the east and in dry forest in the west. Because of uncertainty about its ecology, it is listed as Data Deficient.
