Vespertilionidae

Vespertilionidae, the vesper bats or evening bats, is the largest family of bats, with a nearly worldwide distribution across every continent except Antarctica. Members are generally small, plain-faced insectivorous bats that navigate and hunt using laryngeal echolocation, and the family includes familiar genera such as Myotis, Pipistrellus and Eptesicus. Vesper bats occupy an unusually wide range of habitats and roosting sites, from caves and mines to tree hollows, foliage and buildings.
