Marchantiophyta

Division

The liverworts: small, non-vascular land plants closely related to mosses, with a flattened, lobed body form (thallus) in many species rather than the stem-and-leaf structure typical of mosses. Marchantiophyta is considered among the earliest-diverging lineages of land plants and remains restricted to consistently damp habitats.
