Its members include asparagus, orchids, yuccas, irises, onions, garlic, daffodils, and agaves, most of them herbaceous perennials and many of them geophytes that survive through bulbs or tubers. The order accounts for around half of all monocots and ten to fifteen percent of flowering plants overall.FactsAsparagalesConnectionsSourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsClassificationLiving or ExtinctWell-attestedYes 1Taxonomic RankWell-attestedOrder 2AsparagalesFilter Results9 entriesCommon GroupAllLilies And Orchids (Liliales/Asparagales) (8)Palms, Bananas And Gingers (Arecales/Zingiberales) (1)HabitatAllChaparral (1)Desert (3)Grassland (2)Savanna (1)Conservation StatusAllLeast Concern (5)Not Evaluated (3)EcosystemAllChihuahuan Desert (1)Mediterranean Basin (1)Mojave Desert (1)Everyday GroupAllLilies And Orchids (Liliales/Asparagales) (8)Palms, Bananas And Gingers (Arecales/Zingiberales) (1)DietAllPhotosynthetic Autotroph (9)System (Realm)AllTerrestrial (8)Relationship to PeopleAllEaten or Drunk by People (1)Farmed or Commercially Raised (2)Source of Dye (1)Source of Fibre (1)Used in Traditional Medicine (3)Living or ExtinctAllYes (6)Where It LivesAllAfghanistan (1)Albania (2)Algeria (3)Australia (2)Australia (1)Austria (3)Bangladesh (2)Belarus (1)Belgium (3)Bolivia (2)Botswana (1)Brazil (3)Bulgaria (2)Cambodia (2)Canada (1)Chad (1)Colombia (2)Comoros (1)Costa Rica (3)Croatia (1)Cuba (2)Cyprus (1)Czechia (1)Denmark (3)Dominican Republic (2)East Africa (1)Ecuador (1)Eritrea (1)Estonia (1)Eswatini (1)Ethiopia (2)Fiji (1)Finland (1)France (4)Georgia (1)Germany (3)Greece (3)Guatemala (2)Guinea (1)Haiti (2)Hungary (1)India (1)Iran (1)Ireland (2)Italy (3)Kazakhstan (2)Lesotho (1)Libya (1)Madagascar (1)Mauritius (1)Mongolia (1)Morocco (2)Myanmar (2)Nauru (1)Netherlands (2)North America (5)Norway (3)Pakistan (1)Palestine (1)Peru (1)Portugal (2)Romania (1)Rwanda (1)Seychelles (1)Slovenia (1)Spain (4)Sweden (1)Switzerland (1)Taiwan (2)Tanzania (1)Thailand (1)Tunisia (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 9Agave fourcroydesAsparagalesAgave parryiAsparagalesAgave victoriae-reginaeAsparagalesAllium fistulosumAsparagalesAsparagusAsparagalesCentury PlantAsparagalesCommon BluebellAsparagalesJoshua TreeAsparagalesXanthorrhoeaAsparagalesConnectionsParent Taxon OfAgave fourcroydes, Species Well-attested Source Wikidata: Agave fourcroydesAgave parryi, Species Well-attested Source Agave parryi (Wikidata)tier 2Agave victoriae-reginae, Species Well-attested Source Agave victoriae-reginae (Wikidata)tier 2Allium fistulosum, Species Well-attested Source GBIF Backbone Taxonomy: Allium fistulosumAsparagaceae, Taxa Well-attested Source GBIF Backbone Taxonomy: AsparagaceaeAsparagus, Species Well-attested Source Asparagus (Wikidata)tier 2Century Plant, Species Well-attested Source Agave americana (Wikidata)tier 2Common Bluebell, Species Well-attested Source Wikidata: Common BluebellJoshua Tree, Species Well-attested Source Wikidata: Joshua TreeXanthorrhoea, Species Well-attested Source GBIF Backbone Taxonomy: XanthorrhoeaSources1.
