The rodents: the largest order of mammals by species count, defined by a single pair of continuously growing, chisel-like incisors in each jaw, used for gnawing. Rodentia includes mice, rats, squirrels, beavers and porcupines, and its members inhabit nearly every terrestrial habitat on every continent except Antarctica.
